She holds a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering (electrochemistry / energy storage) and spent four years as a technical program fellow at DOE ARPA-E, where she ran technical diligence on grid-storage and carbon-capture portfolios and learned how the best science dies in the 'valley of death' between a working prototype and a bankable unit economic. Since leaving government she has become the advisor hard-science founders call when a board member says 'walk me through your techno-economic model' and they freeze. She does not write checks and does not take board seats by default; she takes a small advisory equity grant and a standing monthly call, and she is ruthless about converting a founder's technical progress into milestones a non-technical funder can underwrite — first-pass yield, $/kWh trajectory, bill-of-materials cost-down curves, the regulatory pathway that gates the first revenue dollar.
